This essay is a reflection of what I have learned in English Comp II this semester with Professor Hammett, and the things I need to work on still.

Reflection Essay

I have always not liked English until I got into college, and this made me look at English in a separate way. I was in English Comp I in the spring semester of this year, and just finished English Comp II in the fall of this year. I can say there is a major difference in the classes and what I was required for each class. When I started English in the spring that was the first time I had used APA or MLA format since 2018. I still have some work to do with it, but it has gotten easier with the help of this class.

Throughout the course of this semester, I have written three different essays. The first essay that I wrote was about an epidemic. I chose to write about binge drinking, I chose this epidemic as I know people personally who have struggled with binge drinking. With this essay I had to revise it as I did not stay on track, and I needed to work on my thesis. After revising my essay, I realized that I still have some work to do when authoring essays to stay on topic and stick to my thesis.

The second essay I was required to write about was about an absurd author that I had chosen in the beginning of the semester and made a powerpoint over. I chose Franz Kafka who was the author of metamorphosis. That short little movie I watched was absurd and creepy but made me understand the author more. I had to draft an essay that went into detail as to what Franz Kafka would have thought about binge drinking. Again, with this essay I struggled to stay on track of my thesis and completely had to rewrite this essay. Professor Hammett was extremely helpful on what I needed to correct and how I could rewrite it or change it up to stay on Topic of what Franz Kafka would have thought about binge drinking.

The final essay I was required to write was this one you are reading now. I still have work to do when drafting an essay and staying on topic of the prompt or the thesis. This is also the last English class I am required for my major. I will go back and look at the essays I have written when needing to type an essay and refer to what Professor Hammett recommended to me to stay on topic. Thank you, Professor Hammett, for being such a caring and helpful teacher this semester. The things that you have taught me about writing essays and sticking to the topics stick with me.
